Hello,

It’s been a while since I’ve reached out.  I hope you are feeling some fulfillment as life keeps rolling along.  Many of us are experiencing ups and downs as we navigate life.  I try to make a point of keeping the positives in view, to help balance out the feeling of struggle when it arises.  How about you?  What keeps you going when it feels like life is tossing you around a bit???

Today, I reach out to welcome you to a different type of healing work we’re offering on a limited basis.  Once or twice a month, we’re going to flip the scripts on how we go about healing.  We’d love for you to join us as we try it out.

So what is it that we’re trying?  Here’s the short of it…

Basically, we’re almost completely altering the way we approach healing work.  We’re offering informal sessions based solely on intention rather than symptoms/ailments.  We’ll keep talking to a minimum, and let our senses guide the way.  Our goal is to see what kind of healing can happen in this altered treatment setting.

Here are some more details….

  • Instead of collecting full payment, we’ll offer FREE sessions
    • (you can leave a donation if you feel called, if you feel value from the session)
  • Instead of focusing on your ailments, we will focus the treatment on intentions of how you’d like to feel.
    • I’d like to feel ease in mobility when I walk
    • I’d like to feel calm and centered as I navigate life
    • I’d like to lay down and night and feel ready to rest my mind/body
    • I’d like to have more clarity as I work through the day

***** Your intentions can be anything*****
Most important is that you focus on a positive outcome you feel would be helpful in life

  • We will rely on methods of assessment/treatment other than communication
    • this includes pulse taking, palpation, abdominal diagnosis, etc.
    • these are most important for guiding our sessions.
    • keeping talking to a minimum will help us rely on these to guide the process
    • we believe this will help us align with our instincts and sense
    • when guided by sensing, amazing treatment response seems to follow

Why are we doing this?  Good question!  Please allow me to explain…

  • We want to make our healthcare accessible for everyone, regardless of cost
  • Keeping talking to a minimum can shorten the time to get to healing
  • Setting intentions can be powerful.  If we align our body’s energy with intention, healing possibilities are greatly amplified
  • We’d love to see what happens when we base treatment on intention instead of “fixing” ailments
  • We believe this can invite opportunities for spontaneous, divine healing (more on this below)

If you’d like a fuller explanation, keep on reading below : )

A deeper explanation….

Normally, when you go to any healthcare appointment, you go with a set of symptoms/ailments you’d like resolved.  The practitioner gathers pertinent details, then goes about trying to alleviate your symptoms.  This is important work.

At Acupuncture Tennesee, we love doing everything we can to truly understand your condition, with the ultimate goal of getting to the root cause of your symptoms.  We do this by looking at your whole health presentation, with detailed diagnostic procedures.  It’s quite valuable, but time consuming and therefore costly.

For donation days, we’re changing the approach.  We want to see what happens when we bypass “What is wrong” and go straight to “what/how we’d like to feel right”.  We wonder that if by doing so, our instincts will guide us towards acupuncture “allowing” the body to access that intention.

We’ve never tried this approach before, so we’re asking for your help to come try it out.  No payment is required, but you are welcome to leave a donation (only if you feel called).  Treatments will likely be shorter than our standard care, but hopefully give you just what you need at that moment to shift into a brighter space.

Treatments will be done in a group setting
*****Please come ready to share space with others******

How are we allowing healing to happen???

First off, no one needs to have anything “wrong” to get Acupuncture.  It’s also not necessary to focus on a specific issue/complaint.  One of the ways Acupuncture works is by restoring balance.

As Acupuncturists, we help the body find balance through various methods.  Discussing health history is but one of them.  We get the most guidance for sessions based off of methods such as pulse taking, palpation, the way one responds to a point, etc.  However, our best sessions come when we simply follow our instincts.

The classics of Chinese Medicine state that the “highest” level of doctor is the one who treats by “seeing”.  This can be interpreted in many ways.  The teacher who influenced me most (more on him in a second) believes this means we are at our best when we just sense.  In other words, we’re trusting our instincts to guide the process.

If we can let go of our thinking brain, another part of us comes alive.  I believe this to be a sort of “divine intervention”.  We are led to what needs treatment.  When we work in this space, people often see amazing results.

We’re trying this out to see if we can go straight to treating from our instinctual side, allowing for healing to happen however it is meant to be.

Origin story of this idea

The biggest influence on my practive stems from studies with a wise man by the name of Jeffrey Yuen.  He represents the 88th generation of his lineage.  It’s roots trace back to the 11th century.  This provided a source for me to connect deeply to the wisdom of Chinese medicine.  As Jeffrey teaches it, this medicine can help us on all levels of healing.  This includes physical, mental and emotional.  Also, it can help us open our senses more to the divinity that surrounds us.

Chinese medicine is influenced by many things, including Daoism.  Daoism is a form of spirituality that focuses less on the name/details of God, and more on trying to embrace it’s role in our life.  The classic texts (such as the Dao De Jing) state that to truly understand the “Dao”, one must feel it.  Trying to understand it might just take us further from merging with it.

In my teachers practice, he would set aside time for offering  treatments performed without verbal communication.  He believed that this allowed divine spirit to work more freely, both for him and patients.  He did this free of charge as a service to others.

I’ve always been fascinated with this idea.  I feel excited, and truthfully bashful, to invite the community of Greeneville into this practice.  So we’re trying something similar, though not as exact.  We feel it’s important to have some communication, if to only help each other feel at ease.

Regarding the cost… we are happy to offer this just as a service.  However, we will still accept donations to help offset the cost of closing down our standard clinic for a day.  More than anything, we just want to invite others into this practice and see what happens.

We wish you well and hope to see you soon!
